Where to Buy Supplements in Ghana: Pharmacies, Marketplaces and Delivery
Buying supplements in Ghana means choosing between licensed pharmacies, retail chains, marketplaces and direct delivery. Look for the FDA Ghana registration number printed on the supplement label; the seller or adviser can point it out if you cannot find it.
Pharmacies and licensed outlets
Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority registers food supplements and herbal medicinal products and publishes registration information. Registered products carry an FDA registration number on the label.
- Ernest Chemists — Long-established Ghanaian pharmaceutical retailer and distributor with retail outlets; carries consumer health and supplement lines.
- Licensed chemical shops — Outside major cities, licensed chemical shops are the usual point of sale for over-the-counter products and simple supplements.
Supermarkets and general retail
- Melcom — National retail chain; larger stores include a health and personal care section with mainstream vitamins.
Marketplaces and online sellers
- Jumia Ghana — General marketplace with a health and beauty category run by third-party sellers. Check seller rating and return terms.

How does ordering with payment on delivery work in Ghana?

- Buy from a licensed pharmacy or chemical shop where a trained assistant can answer questions about interactions.
Pay only when the parcel is in your hands. An adviser confirms by phone that the courier delivers to your area, and you pay in cash on delivery after a quick look at the product name, pack size and expiry date.
